Daily Prompt – You have to choose one flavor that your sense of taste will no longer be able to distinguish. Sweet, sour, bitter, salty, umami, spicy (not a taste per se, but we’re generous): which one do you choose to lose?
“Grapes, grapes, grapes; fresh from the vineyards. Only Rs. 30/- for one kilogram”, the usual hawker shouting in the daily vegetable market.
“Any bargain?”, asked I. “Oh! Young kid, for you 5 Rs. off.”
I found it a good deal and so I went with it. “I will enjoy these at home today”, thought I.
About 1 hour after my lunch I found myself in my living room with the grapes before me. Only thinking about the grapes filled my mind with enjoyment. Those small bright green balls captivated me.
Just as I inserted the first grape into my mouth, “Arrrr!!!!! Theseee are soooo sour!!!!”
The grapes were so sour that I decided not to touch any other grapes. Maybe the hawker knew it in the first place and gave me bargain just to sell his stock. Even now, I couldn’t blame him; it was I who didn’t taste them before buying (sigh).
I wish I could have lost my sour taste bud. It would relieve me of all the sour flavours out there (including those damn grapes).
