New Internet Order

Daily Prompt – All the world’s countries have decided that the Internet itself needs a government. Your country asks you to run for Prime Minister of the ‘Net — do you accept? If so, what will your platform be?

Behold all you internet users. This is the Prime Minister speaking (or I think writing). It is a great honour for me to become the prime minister of the internet and I’m here to listen to all your complaints (and praises).

That’s enough bragging. Being at such a high post is not as easy a task as it seems. And handling the whole internet. Woah! Exabytes of data is transmitted everyday or maybe every hour too. And then there is this net neutrality thing at large. Many countries are formulating new and new laws regarding net neutrality and honestly, I don’t know anything about them.

To say the truth, I’m happy with the internet as it is now and don’t need any changes and maybe you don’t too. I can’t imagine how people would live without internet. It has been deeply rooted in our lives. We can even say that it has now become a basic necessity of all humans.

One thing I can do as a prime minister is that I would establish free Wi-Fi in every city. But that is hard to do if corruption enters in the government. Then it would be just a matter of time when those politicians will get unlimited high speed internet and we’ll be left with slow speeds (maybe dial-up, only 56kbps). Haha!

Time to come back to reality. There’s not going to be a government and even if there is, my chance of becoming the prime minister is almost nil.
